Help George St to become NZ's first single use plastic bag-free street in NZ.

To avoid any need for single use plastic bags, Carrying Our Future intend to collaborate with SuperGrans, MenzShed and the Library to provide reusable shopping bags for shoppers to borrow and return if they forget to bring their own to town. These will be stored in a receptacle made by MenzShed and positioned in the library, near the Cuba St entrance.

SuperGrans will run 6 workshops to train the Carrying Our Future volunteers, who will then hold regular drop-in workshops in the library to make Carrying Our Future bags with community members.

In order to make this happen, Carrying Our Future is asking for donations of clean, strong fabric (drill or curtain fabrics are ideal), sewing machines, and any other sewing supplies. Carrying Our Future is also seeking support for this project from individuals, businesses and community groups.
