Communications and Events 

30 hours per week

Wage Range: $25-$28/hour

ENM is currently seeking applicants for this new role.

Based in our Palmerston North office this role will provide an integrated approach to the communications and event management for Environment Network Manawatu (ENM), a well-established umbrella group for 60+ environmental member groups.

We are looking for a team player for this varied role which will support the work of ENM.  You will be passionate about creating compelling stories that share the impact of the organisation’s work to key stakeholders.  You will also enjoy providing event management and event logistics support.

What you’ll do
  • Create and implement an integrated communications plan to support the work of ENM, its member groups and its various projects.
  • Advise on appropriate and effective means of establishing and maintaining good relations with media, politicians and our various stakeholders.
  • Explore new ways to tell our stories to support volunteer engagement, fundraising and programme development.
  • Be responsible for producing printed and online resources including website content; multiple social media profiles; newsletters; media releases and articles and provide advice and communications support for campaigns.
  • Engage with and support the different groups that ENM interacts with, from our volunteers to funders and the general public.
  • Create clear internal processes for effective event management to support project and operational events.

Who you are
You’ll need to be excited by the work we do and you will either have experience in the environmental or not-for-profit sector or be looking for a way to support this sector. You have the experience to plan and implement innovative communications strategies. With the ability to connect with people through your writing and creative excellence, you tell powerful stories to inspire and inform.

You’ll be someone who is able to keep on top of lots of different projects and set priorities. You have good communication skills, both written and oral, with experience of writing for a variety of different audiences and probably have a journalism or communications qualification.

This is a stimulating and busy position that requires someone who is highly motivated with an in-depth understanding of current environmental challenges and priorities. Experience of working within a membership organisation, working collaboratively and managing relationships with stakeholders would be useful.

Who we are
ENM is a fast-growing member-led group for the many environmental projects in the Manawatu. ENM oversees various successful projects such as Manawatu Food Action Network and Manawatu River Source to Sea (including Plastic Pollution Challenge and Ruahine Kiwi Habitat).
