PNCC is promoting a local bill to amend the Palmerston North Reserves Empowering Act 1966. The amendment would bring Huia Street Reserve within this Act, enabling Council to sell the land in future.

PNCC aims to foster this by partnering with and supporting communities, organisations and individuals who contribute towards the city’s vision and goals. Council is looking, following a review of the Community Funding Policy 2018, to to replace it with the Support and Funding Policy 2021.

The Ministry for the Environment is consulting on a new strategy with the understanding that Aotearoa New Zealand is one of the highest generators of waste per person in the world. They want to hear your views on the overall direction and detail of the draft strategy and the potential scope and content for new legislation. Feedback will help shape final proposals.

Manawatū District Council is currently preparing its 10 Year Plan for 2021-31. We are seeking your feedback on the draft plan. The consultation document, "Shaping our next 10 years", explains Council's key projects and challenges, outlines two major decisions on which Council is seeking public feedback, explains proposed rates rises and the consultation process. Consultation goes until 12 May 2021.

Every three years the Palmerston North City Council decides what they want to achieve over the next decade. Public consultation on the 10-Year Plan 2021-31 starts on 14 April, and closes 14 May 2021.

The eagerly anticipated first Climate Change Commission report advises the government on every aspect of our climate change response. We encourage everyone to take a look, think about what's needed to ensure a transition to a low-emissions, climate-resilient, thriving Aotearoa, and make a submission. Here we publish some initial responses to the report from researchers and experts in the sector, and some media articles. Submissions close 28 March 2021.

Palmerston North is growing, and we need to be able to move more people around safely and more easily. Palmerston North City Council wants to create an environment and culture change that enables people to choose cycling more often. They will be installing a trial separated cycleway on Main Street-Pioneer Highway. Feedback is open until 22 December 2020.

This Ministry for the Environment consultation seeks feedback on two proposals related to plastic design, use and disposal. ENM is preparing a joint submission to this consultation, and a separate document relevant to the Palmy's Plastic Pollution Challenge project. Submissions close 4 December.
